Simple Steps to Enroll
2026-2027 School Year
Families who would like to attend our school next year must apply through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) during the regular Open Enrollment period.
Regular Open Enrollment: (Now – April 30)
Apply online through the DPI website: https://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment
- Accepted families will receive instructions to complete enrollment in our portal, which opens June 1.
- Applications must be submitted by April 30.
- The school will send acceptance letters during the last week of May.
2025-2026 School Year
Step 1:
Digitally complete an Open Enrollment Alternative Application via DocuSign.* A copy of this completed form will automatically be submitted to our school staff and to the email address you provide on your application.

Step 2:
Review of Open Enrollment Alternative Applications can take up to 20 days. Families will receive an email and a letter via postal mail indicating if their application is approved or denied. If approved, the letter will include the next steps for enrolling.
Step 3:
If approved to open enroll, families will complete enrollment via the K12 Enrollment Portal.
*Most applicants meet the exceptions outlined by the Department of Public Instruction policy.

Steps to Complete Enrollment:
1. Start the WIVA Enrollment Process: Visit the Enrollment Portal
- Create an Enrollment Portal account with K12 (our partner).
- Please note: If you have already started this application, you just need to log back in and finish the process.
- If you have already started the application but cannot proceed, you may need to wait for our staff to unlock your account before you can finish. Please contact the enrollment center at 1.866.339.9912 if this is the case.
- Complete and submit all required paperwork through the portal.
- Important: Your student is only approved at this stage—enrollment is not complete until all paperwork is submitted.
2. Appeal Process (if Necessary)
- If your Resident District denies your application, enrollment in WIVA will depend on the success of your appeal with the Wisconsin DPI. · For more details on the appeal process, visit the DPI website: http://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment/appeals.
3. Provide Academic Transcripts
- Once enrollment is complete, we will request your student’s transcript from their previous school.
- The transcript will help our counselors place your student in the appropriate classes.
Part-Time Enrollment Resources
Please submit any outstanding documents via the enrollment portal. Email and fax submissions for documents are currently unavailable.
Wisconsin students enrolled in a public school are allowed to participate in the Department of Public Instruction’s Part-Time Public School Open Enrollment. This will enable students to remain enrolled in their current school district while taking one or two online courses at Wisconsin Virtual Academy (WIVA) and Destinations Career Academy of Wisconsin (DCAWI).
Submit a part-time application
For students in grades 9–12, the Part-Time Public School Open Enrollment Application must be submitted to and approved by WIVA or DCAWI six weeks before the start of a semester.

- The deadline to submit a part-time application is six weeks before the first day of the semester.
- Students should work with their school district to complete the application and mail it to the Wisconsin Virtual Academies office at 4721 Dale Curtin Drive, McFarland, WI 53558.
