Simple Steps to Enroll
2026-2027 School Year
The 2026–2027 school year Open Enrollment window (February 1–April 30) has closed. If you applied during Open Enrollment, accepted families should follow the instructions provided in their acceptance letter to complete enrollment through the K12 Enrollment Portal beginning June 1.
If you missed the Open Enrollment window, you can still apply through Alternative Open Enrollment, which begins July 1 and remains open throughout the school year.
To apply, submit an Alternative Open Enrollment application through our website. A link to the application will be available here beginning July 1. Applications are typically reviewed within 20 days. Once approved, a K12 representative will contact you and guide you through the remaining enrollment steps in the K12 Enrollment Portal.
Before applying, we recommend gathering the following required documents:
- Proof of Age (birth certificate or passport)
- Proof of Residence
- Immunization records (required to remain enrolled and may be submitted after initial approval, if needed)
Our team is here to support you throughout the process and help make enrollment as smooth as possible.

Steps to Complete Enrollment:
1. Start the WVA Enrollment Process: Visit the Enrollment Portal
- Create an Enrollment Portal account with K12 (our partner).
- Please note: If you have already started this application, you just need to log back in and finish the process.
- If you have already started the application but cannot proceed, you may need to wait for our staff to unlock your account before you can finish. Please contact the enrollment center at 1.866.339.9912 if this is the case.
- Complete and submit all required paperwork through the portal.
- Important: Your student is only approved at this stage—enrollment is not complete until all paperwork is submitted.
2. Appeal Process (if Necessary)
- If your Resident District denies your application, enrollment in WIVA will depend on the success of your appeal with the Wisconsin DPI. · For more details on the appeal process, visit the DPI website: http://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment/appeals.
3. Provide Academic Transcripts
- Once enrollment is complete, we will request your student’s transcript from their previous school.
- The transcript will help our counselors place your student in the appropriate classes.
Part-Time Enrollment Resources
Please submit any outstanding documents via the enrollment portal. Email and fax submissions for documents are currently unavailable.
Wisconsin students enrolled in a public school are allowed to participate in the Department of Public Instruction’s Part-Time Public School Open Enrollment. This will enable students to remain enrolled in their current school district while taking one or two online courses at Wisconsin Virtual Academy (WIVA) and Destinations Career Academy of Wisconsin (DCAWI).
Submit a part-time application
For students in grades 9–12, the Part-Time Public School Open Enrollment Application must be submitted to and approved by WIVA or DCAWI six weeks before the start of a semester.
- Download and complete a Part-Time Public School Open Enrollment [PDF]
- The deadline to submit a part-time application is six weeks before the first day of the semester.
- Students should work with their school district to complete the application and mail it to the Wisconsin Virtual Academies office at 4721 Dale Curtin Drive, McFarland, WI 53558.
- For questions about part-time enrollment, please email Kristin Disrude at [email protected]
